An Irregular Metabolism, usually a reduced metabolism, can happen for many reasons. Some may say it is a part of aging or menopause or peri-menopause.
I know an irregular metabolism can be an effect of hypo-functioning adrenals, thyroid, pituitary, pineal gland and or the ovaries.
Other aspects can be low to no functioning of our energy producing mitochondria and detox pathways, e.g. methylation which would play a role in other major symptoms, not just fatigue. This can be caused by exposures to environmental toxins and or DNA genetic mutations e.g. MTHFR and epigenetics.
An epigenetic influence on many chronic and metabolic diseases is now well-established, in some cases, with a larger effect on disease risk and susceptibility than many well-established risk factors. Additionally, the evidence base for the role of persistent organic pollutants in many of these same diseases has grown considerably, and it appears that the toxic effects of these substances are mediated in part via epigenetic mechanisms, particularly during critical periods of development. http://www.restorativeformulations.com/Clinical-Implications-of-Persistent-Organic-Pollutants-Epigenetic-Mechanisms
Testing is the easy part.
Working with genetic mutations in optimizing their functions, detoxing the body, restoring and rejuvenating the body is my specialty.
It takes special monitoring as each person is unique in how they rebalance.
